Sweden's Princess Madeleine announces she is pregnant 12 weeks after fairytale wedding

Parents-to-be: Sweden's Princess Madeleine and her husband, Christopher O'Neill, are expecting their first child in March
Parents-to-be: Sweden's Princess Madeleine and her husband, Christopher O'Neill, are expecting their first child in March
Sweden's one-time 'party princess' lives with her British-American husband, 39, in New York where she works for the World Childhood Foundation, a non-profit group founded by her mother, Queen Silvia.
The couple met after Princess Madeleine fled to the U.S. in 2010 with a broken heart.
She crossed the Atlantic following the breakdown of her first engagement to Swedish attorney Jonas Bergstrom amid speculation that he had cheated on her.
Rumours of a romance with Mr O'Neill first emerged in early 2011 when the pair were seen together at the Central Park Boathouse.
Engaged! Princess Madeleine of Sweden, 30, has announced that she will marry British-born, U.S.-based banker Chris O'Neill, 38
Royal family: Madeleine pictured in her engagement photo with British-born, U.S.-based banker Chris O'Neill. The couple are expecting their first child in March next year
A source told the New York Post at the time: 'She is always happy when she is with him.'
Madeleine says she and her husband were friends first, and a relationship blossomed over time.
'I appreciate Chris for his warmth and his humor,' she said. 'He has a very big heart and he manages to make everyone in his presence feel good. Christopher is a very thoughtful and generous person.
Mr O'Neill, however, says that 'from the very outset, I immediately felt something special with Madeleine.'
Insiders predicted an engagement last year when Crown Princess Victoria gave birth to a baby, Princess Estelle, and Mr O'Neill accompanied Madeleine to Estelle's baptism ceremony that May - a significant indicator, as partners of royals are usually not invited to such occasions unless they are officially engaged.
And they were spot on. The couple announced their engagement in October 2012, confirmed in a brief video clip posted on the royal website.
'Chris proposed to me in New York at the start of October, and we are very happy,' Madeleine said in the video, which was recorded Wednesday at the Drottningholm Palace outside Stockholm.
Low-key: The couple, pictured shortly before they announced their engagement, live in New York
Madeleine described the proposal as 'very romantic and intimate' but would not reveal anything beyond that.
'Madeleine and I have known each other for two years and I recently summoned up the courage to ask her to marry me. Thankfully she said yes,' Mr O'Neill said in English with a British accent.
He added a few words in Swedish, saying he was trying to learn the language 'but it is difficult.'
Mr O'Neill revealed that he had followed procedure and asked Madeline's father, the king, for his daughter's hand in marriage.
'I felt part of the family right from the very beginning,' he said. 'Madeleine's family is very warm and we have a very good time when we all see each other.'
In her sister's footsteps: Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria married her former fitness trainer Daniel Westling at a lavish ceremony in Stockholm in 2010. The couple had a baby, Princess Estelle, last year

Boho style: The bride wore a Missoni gown with her hair worn loose and a garland of flowers on her head
'The dress also featured a full-length circle skirt with a macramé effect supported by two layers of silk organza which charmingly matched her five-month-old son Sasha's bloomers,' the magazine's website reported.
She teamed her gown with flat silver sandals and wore her hair loose with a garland of flowers on her head.
The couple, who have been together for seven years and have five-month-old son Sasha together, were greeted by cheers as they left the Prince's Palace after the late morning ceremony.

Among the 400 guests present at a lunch afterwards was the cream of Monaco society. The principality's reigning monarch Prince Albert, his wife Princess Charlene and his sister and mother-of-the-groom Princess Caroline were all in attendance.
Charlotte Casiraghi, the bride's sister who is believed to be around six moths' pregnant with fiance Gad Elmaleh, and apparently introduced the happy couple, looked elegant in pale blue.
Also in attendance was Karl Lagerfeld, the Missoni family (minus Margherita who is due to welcome her first child any day now), Greek shipping heiress Eugenie Niarchos and the bride's aunt, Lauren Santo Domingo.

Mr and Mrs: The wedding celebrations continued on Saturday night at the Hotel de Paris
Later, for the evening celebration, Tatiana appeared to have changed into a different creation by the Italian family-owned fashion house, with longer sleeves and a different style of lace embellishment. She removed her floral headdress and instead accessorised with a pearl-embellished clutch.
The build-up to the royal wedding was documented last week by Lauren Santo Domingo, who shared a snap of Tatiana's bachelorette aboard a luxury yacht.
The photo on Instagram showed the ladies all dressed in white lace ensembles and floral headbands, with picturesque mountains in the background.
In contrast to her guests, the bride-to-be stood out in a red dip-dye dress and matching red lipstick, and her photogenic pooch sitting on her lap.

All dressed in white: The build-up to the royal wedding was documented last week by Lauren Santo Domingo, who shared a snap of Tatiana's bachelorette aboard a luxury yacht
Tatiana, a regular on the New York social scene, dated Andrea for seven years before they announced their engagement in July 2012.
In March 2013, they welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Sacha, who is third in line to the Monegasque throne.
A spokesperson for the couple has said their August 31 wedding would be a 'private affair', but many believe she will follow in the footsteps of Lauren, whose 2008 wedding was highly publicised and featured in a ten-page spread in Vogue.
Tatiana is the daughter of Colombian businessman Julio Mario Santo Domingo, Jr, and Brazilian socialite Vera Rechulski.
Her late grandfather, Julio Mario Santo Domingo, was thought to be worth around £5.5billion.

Publicity-shy: A spokesperson for the couple said the August 31 wedding would be a 'private affair'
In 2009, she started a fashion line, Muzungu Sisters, with her friend Dana Alikhani, who was also pictured on the yacht, and she was included in Vanity Fair's 2010 international best dressed list.
Other guests on the boat included Tatiana's future sister-in-law Charlotte Casiraghi, who flattered her baby bump in a long white dress with crochet details on the hem.
Andrea Casiraghi, who is second in line to the throne, is the grandson of Grace Kelly and son of Princess Caroline and the late Stefano Casiraghi.
This weekend's wedding is the first of two to take place this year within the royal family of Monaco.
